Week eighteen: Morning Bondi Diary

Hi guys!

Oh my god what a week it's been!! There was not one dull morning, amazing all the way from Monday to Friday.

Obviously for the people that already follow Morning Bondi on Facebook & Instagram, they will know which day was my highlight. Yes that's right it was Tuesday indeed! I've never seen something like that, there were hundreds of dolphins jumping all over Bondi. Just an incredible show to watch!!

I think it's safe to say that the photos went viral, they were liked, commented, shared more than 100,000's times across all social platforms, Tourism Australia posted the photos on both Instagram & Twitter to their 1.6 million fans (yes that's right 1.6 million!!), City of Sydney created a special Facebook album with the photos and I've received so many kind messages from all around the globe. Thanks so much for all this, I really appreciate your support! It truly means a lot to me and give me an extra boost of motivation to continue waking up everyday at 5:30am to take photos.

And here are the photos for this week...

Week seventeen: Morning Bondi Diary

Hi guys,

How's everyone today? How was your week?

Mine was not bad at all, pretty busy at work but the rest was fine. The weather was on & off. We went from freezing to mild, from epic sunrises to boring ones and from sunshine to rain...

The highlight for this week was definitely Wednesday, oh my lord the colours in the sky were rad. It went from a bright pink to orange to yellow, to green (just joking) - go and check the photo album on Facebook Morning Bondi Page. I reckon this was the best sunrise that we had for ages!!

Other than this, I just wanted to talk to you about my hair. I know what you are going to tell me, who cares? In fact I do and that's why I want to talk to you about my friend Brad who just started his own little barbershop. He's got more than 10 years of experience in his hands and he cuts your hair in the confort of your own home - no need to move from your sofa. You can watch Netflix whilst he's taking care of your hair. How convenient is that! Check him out on Facebook & Instagram

Right now, whilst you'll be reading this post, I will be surfing on the Goldie with four mates... Yew!

Morning guys,

Hope you all had a great week - mine was crazy busy so I'm so glad that it's the weekend.

Aside from the fact that it was freaking cold, it was a pretty good week! I love winter because it's so quiet down the beach that I get to enjoy the sunrise with only a couple of people. These people are often surfers, a couple of runners and a tremendous number of photographers.

That's right, in the last four years that I've been running Morning Bondi, I see more and more photographers down there everyday. Sometimes it can actually be a bit awkward as I see more people with cameras than without. What's going on?! Are we all aspiring to be like Eugene Tan from Aquabumps

Uge was actually telling me recently that when he started taking photos in 1999, people were looking at him like he was a weirdo. Now it's more like if you don't have a camera with you that you are not normal. ;) It's funny how things change and how social networks like Instagram have been revolutionising photography.

Alright enough for today, here is the selection for this week...

Hello everyone,

Hope you are well and ready to kick-off the weekend. It looks like it's going to be sunny in Sydney so make the most of it!

After two weeks spent in the Cook Islands, I'm back in the bubble and it feels pretty good. This week was not bad at all, some pretty epic sunrises all around.

The highlight of this week was probably on Wednesday when I attended the launch of the OneWave Surfing Experience! The purpose of this initiative is to provide some surfing lessons to selected individuals experiencing mental health issues. You can read more on their fundraising page. Share the love guys, they are doing real good for the community these guys!

Morning guys,

Hope you all had a nice week and you are ready to tackle the long weekend!!

Aside from the fact that it was a bit cold, this week was pretty amazing: the sunrises were pretty spectaculars and the waves pumping. The highlight of the week was probably my close encounter with the kangaroos & pandas from WWF Australia. You can read more about it HERE and watch videos HERE.

Finally, before showing you the photos for this week, I just wanted to let you know that I'm escaping the cold for a couple of weeks to go to the Cook Islands. The bad news is that there will be no diaries for the next two weeks, but the good news is that if you still want to see photos of blue sky and transparent water, you can follow me on my personal Instagram HERE. I will be posting photos of my journey through the main island Rarotonga as well as on the idyllic Aitutaki island.

Week eleven: Morning Bondi Diary

Morning guys,

What a week! Personally I’ve been really busy with work that I’m glad that it’s over. Unfortunately, due to a couple of early meetings and a trip to Melblourne, I didn’t spend as much time down the beach as I'd like.

Something that I’ve noticed over the past four years of Morning Bondi is that when I’m not kicking-off my day with my daily routine, I’m actually grumpy all day. I know it sounds ridiculous to enjoy waking-up at 5:30am everyday (which is by the way not natural at all), to train to become sore and finally jump into a freezing water - but that’s the way I roll and I love it!

Alright enough about me, here are some of the shots...

Kombucha on tap??

Kombucha on tap??

I have always loved Kombucha but have recently been seeing it pop up everywhere from the Bondi Farmers Markets, in bottles at health food stores and even kombucha on tap! Many people have been asking me questions about what exactly is kombucha, is it good for us and is it a superfood?

Kombucha tea is a fermented drink which has recently become very trendy but has been traditionally known as the ‘elixir of health’ for centuries in many countries around the world.

Kombucha contains a special blend of good bacteria and yeasts, known as probiotics and is made by fermenting these with tea leaves, water and sugar. Fear not – the sugar is consumed by the good bacteria and does not remain in the final product. Fruits may be added in the secondary fermentation phase, resulting in a delicious taste (my personal fave is vanilla and rose!)

Kombucha tea is easy to make at home and is very safe if prepared according to directions. Kombucha is consumed as a cold drink to ensure the survival of its beneficial enzymes, microorganisms and vitamins.

The many health benefits of Kombucha tea means that it certainly earns it place as a ‘superfood’ and is an easy way to get more fermented foods in your diet (without having to compromise on taste!) Health benefits include: improved digestion and gut health (including fighting candida); immune boosting; prevention and treatment of joint issues (including arthritis), increased collagen (read: less wrinkles!); improved liver detoxification and also contains particularly high levels of B-vitamins and antioxidants.

Warmly,

Belinda

I can't believe that it's already the tenth edition of the weekly diary . It's been a pretty fun journey so far...

Morning guys,

How's everyone today?

There are weeks that are better than others, lucky this was one of them. So for the highlights of this week, let's go by days...

- Wednesday, I had the chance to spend the whole morning with my friend Tim from Morning Dubai. That's right for the ones that have missed the Diary of Week Seven, one of my friends living in Dubai has started Morning Dubai. Check him on Instagram HERE.

- Thursday, the guys from Campbell & Hall have published an interview about Morning Bondi on their site. I talked about how it all started, my best moments as well as the best places to drink, eat and take photos in Bondi. Read the full interview HERE. Additionally to this self-promotion bit, the sunrise was a cracker. Check the full Facebook album HERE.

- Friday, it was another cracker with gigantic waves. I went down there with my mate Bruno from Le Cut Studio for some photos and droning. That's right from the verb to drone. ;) Watching the waves crashing on the Icebergs was just a fantastic show! See all the photos HERE and the video HERE. How cool is that?!

Morning my friends,

How good was this week! Sunshine is definitely back and here to stay for a while, apparently.

The highlight for this week, hmm let me think?! Everyday really but a preference for Thursday morning as it is not often that I got to spend a bit of time down the beach with my wife before going to work. She is usually sleeping when I leave the house at 5:30am and when I'm back after my morning routine, I don't have a minute for myself/herself: shower, breakfast, photo selection, editing, upload of the photos and blurb on Morning Bondi Facebook page and off to go to work...

Morning people,

How is everyone today? After two days of heavy rain it seems that this morning is going to be alright for the next few hours so wake-up and make the most out of it as the rain is back early afternoon. Personally, I'm going to visit the big Swedish this morning (and I'm not talking about my mate Magnus) but IKEA. ;(

For the highlight of this short week, definitely the announcement of the creation of Morning Dubai. That's right Morning Bondi expands... A friend of mine who lives in the City of Gold has decided to start Morning Dubai on Instagram. Chia Power

Chia Power

By Belinda :-)

I thought that today I would share my super easy and nutritious recipes for Chia Puddings. Healthy eating is all about organisation so spend ten minutes making these at the beginning of the week and you will not be disappointed.

Chia seeds are truly one of nature’s super super superfoods! They are high in protein, fibre, calcium, omega 3’s, vitamin C

Chia seeds are amazing for increasing satiety (and so can help with weight loss J), balance blood sugar levels, improve sluggish bowels, improve energy levels and provide a great school or work lunch box snack, quick breakfast or yummy dessert.

Chia seed puddings are incredible forgiving and can be made by ANYONE! If you find they are too runny, just add more chia seeds and pop back in the fridge for ten minutes, if they are too hard, just add more liquid and in ten or so minutes they will be the right consistency.

The rule with chia puddings is to add around 2-3 tablespoons of chia seeds to 1 cup of liquid and then leave in the fridge for an hour (or overnight) to set. I tend to make them for several days in advance. They look super cute for a snack when set in a little baby-food type jar.  You can vary the consistency to suit yourself – I tend to aim for a mousse-like consistency.

Liquids you may choose to add may include: milk, almond milk, coconut milk (diluted or staright up) or coconut water. You can add fresh, frozen or pureed fruit. I always add cinnamon and vanilla paste for extra flavor. When I have time, I blend up a smoothie and use that for the liquid base.

The possibilities are endless but easy favourites include:

·      Coconut milk, vanilla paste, cinnamon and chia seeds stirred together

·      Blended banana, mango, vanilla, coconut milk – add chia seeds after blending

·      Frozen raspberries, banana and milk in the blender – add chia seeds after

·      Blended banana, mango and pineapple juice – add chia seeds after

·      Frozen raspberries with coconut milk, raw cacao blended – add shredded coconut and chia seeds after

Week five: Morning Bondi Diary

Bonjour my friends,

Edition number five of the Morning Bondi weekly diary - already, wow time flies!

This week was not bad at all, the weather was pretty descent, the waves pumping and the temperatures quite mild.

The highlight of this week was probably the interview that I had with the local brand Campbell & Hall at the newly refurbished Harry's Bondi (by the way, top job guys!) I actually love talking about Morning Bondi to people - this is kind of my little baby that I've seen slowly but organically growing since almost four years. Something that I've realised throughout the different interviews & chats that I've had is that people don't realise that Morning Bondi is actually not only about the photos but also about a group of mates that catches-up every morning to spend two hours down the beach together. That's right, it's kind of a lovely mateship story! Anyway, I'm pretty sure that the guys from Campbell & Hall will cover this in the future blog article. In the meantime, here is a great photo of some of us: http://bit.ly/MorningBondiCrew

Week four: Morning Bondi Photo Diary

Morning my friends,

Hope you all had a great week. God, how good would it be if every week was like that: three day weekend for four working days.

What's new for this week? Well not much to be honest. The weather has not been amazing lately. It actually starts to be pretty cold in the morning. We enter the time of the year when it's actually warmer inside the water than outside.

The highlight of this week was definitely Wednesday morning. The sky was a cracker (if you are into #Cloudporn) and I spent the whole morning with my wife aka My Sweet Cuisine - which is quite rare. We went for a walk up to Bronte, a great coffee at Chapter One and a few photos along the way. Super nice start of the day!!

Week three: Morning Bondi Photo Diary

Morning guys,

Hope you all had an amazing four day week and that you are ready to kick-off this Easter long weekend.

The first highlights of this week was my collaboration with the cheeky bikini brand Kaloea. Created in 2013 by Eve, Kaloea is an Australian brand inspired by the surf lifestyle of the Pacific Islands. We spent two hours last Sunday shooting down the beach with Eve and Tara. From a skateboard session on the parade with some Bureo boards, some beach shots, we end-up in the water for some surf action... Really cool & fun shoot!

The other highlight was the amazing sunrise of Thursday morning, the colours in the sky were just unreal! Autumn is THE season for cracking sunrises!

Anyway, here is my selection of photos for this week...

Week two: Morning Bondi Photo Diary

Morning guys,

Wow time flies, it's already time to write a second article. Judging by the incredible amount of comments on the previous article, it seems that I either lost you after the first paragraph or you were speechless by the quality of the prose and photos. I'd like to think that it was the later. ;)

Alright I'm going to try to keep them brief and focus more on the photos than the blurb. This week was again really special. I love this Autumn light! The highlight of this week was Tuesday, it was just incredible, probably one of the most beautiful sunrises that I've seen down there. See the full photo album on Morning Bondi Facebook Page. Even the official Instagram account of Tourism Australia regrammed one of my photos to their 1.2 million followers. I'm not too much into stats, they usually make me dizzy but 45,900+ likes & 400+ comments excite me a little.

And now my favourite part of the article, here is the selection of photos for this week...

Week one: Morning Bondi Photo Diary

Hi guys,

So when the guys at I Love Bondi asked me if I could write some blog posts for them, at first I was super thrilled but then asked myself what am I going to write?! After a few days of reflection, here is what I propose, I'm just going to tell you how my week down the beach has been - how good does that sound?! I know it does sound pretty terrible so to avoid to bore you too much, I'm just going to add the best photo that I took each day and hope that it will do the trick.

Lucky enough this week we are starting with a pretty good one. There is not one sunrise that has not been a cracker. From Monday to Friday, the sky put on a real show. Since I've started Morning Bondi three years ago, I've noticed that Autumn is definitely the best season of the year for sunrises. So if there is one time of the year you should drag yourself out of bed, it's now.

The highlight for this week was the second birthday of the OneWave crew. They were attempting the World's Largest Fluro Wave. Chatting afterwards with Grant, the founder, he reckons there were at least 600 people down there. It was pretty impressive to be honest! These guys are doing an amazing job in spreading awareness about mental health issues and fighting depression, anxiety and bipolarity. You can support them by going down in South Bondi every Friday at 6:30am. It's a really friendly group and I can guarantee that you are going to have a laugh.
